[August 6, 1969] SNT – 301 Joh 9:1-5; 8:44 Joh 9:3-7 Joh 9:7-22 Joh 9:22-38; Isa 35:5 __________________ DRAFT SNT-0301-ManBornBlind DRAFT I'd like for you to take your Bibles tonight and turn to the Gospel of John, the prophets of old, in Isaiah, other places in the Old Testament, prophesied of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. They told about His coming. They said many wonderful things about the Lord Jesus. But there is a prophecy in the Old Testament. When I first read this prophecy, I never understood it. And so I did with it like I've done with hundreds of places in the Word of God. When I did not understand it, I did not deny its reality. I did not say it was a myth. I did not say it was baloney. I simply said, I don't understand. And I'll just let it live dormant. Maybe someday, somebody will help me to understand. Well, it wasn't that somebody that helped me to understand but it was the very keys that I teach in the foundational class, that God inspired my heart one day and showed me this great record in the Gospel of John. And this was the explanation of a prophecy, which was stipulated back in Isaiah, a prophecy that stated, in essence, the following, that when the true Messiah would come, who would be our Lord and our Savior, the one who would be God's only begotten Son, the one who would do exactly what the prophets of old had always spoken about. Isaiah said, that when this man would come, he would do one miracle, a miracle which had never been done before in the history of the world. And the doing of this miracle, would be the proof, in the sense his world that he was God's only begotten Son, and that He was the promised Messiah, that He was the reading.
