Cummins graduated from the Foundational Class in 1962. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio State University in 1968 and a Master of Education in Secondary School Administration from Wright State University in 1978. Ordained to the Christian ministry in 1968, Cummins studied under Victor Paul Wierwille at The Way Biblical Research and Teaching Center in Ohio. In addition to teaching, he also served in various leadership and research roles.
